Joe Ely is performing onstage at Gruene Hall. I have seen his legendary shows many times before and how he takes the crowd to an electrified frenzy, especially with his high energy hit “Musta Notta Gotta Lotta” (Sleep Last Night). Tonight is no different as Joe has his audience captivated, arms raised and excitedly moving to the music. He is singing about Buddy Brown going back to bed. It hits me…what if Buddy Brown went back to bed because he musta notta gotta lotta sleep last night?! I can see a picture book and wonder how many more Joe Ely songs I can fit within one inspired story…..And so it began, weaving together song titles and other references to a music artist to create stories.
